Using AirTrafficControl

Showing/Hiding the Network List

To show or hide the list of networks simply click anywhere in the current connection area. (The area that is visible when the network list is hidden).

Note that if AirPort is off you will need to turn it on before you can view the network list.

Connecting to a Network

If you wish to connect to a network simply click on its name in the network list. If the network is not secured or if you have the network password already stored in the Keychain AirTrafficControl will simply connect for you. If the network requires a password that you haven't entered, AirTrafficControl will allow you to type it in. AirTrafficControl also will store and update passwords in the Keychain so that Mac OS X's built in network software can use them.

You will only be able to connect to a network if you have permission. This means that you should set the options on the back of the widget a specify who can connect to networks and if they need to authenticate every time.

Preferences

Scan Refresh Interval

Search interval is the frequency at which the display is updated. The shorter it is the more resources (RAM, CPU, etc.) that are consumed. I typically use a setting of 5 seconds. This interval is only used when in scanning mode or when not connected to a network to ensure network traffic is not disrupted by scanning.

Check Updates Automatically

This is as simple as it sounds. Do you want us to update your vendor list and check for new versions?

Use Requires Administrator

Only an administrator will be able to change settings like the scan rate and only and administrator will be able to connect to networks. If you are not an administrator you won't be able to change this setting, sorry for your luck. Administrators will need to authenticate to change this setting.

Use Requires Authentication

Every time scan settings are changed and every time a user attempts to connect to a network they will need to authenticate. This is used in combination with "Use Requires Administrator" to ensure that only authorized users change network settings.

Other Issues

If you have found a bug you can submit it and we may even fix it.
