Take Control of your AirPort NetworkAirTrafficControl FeaturesSelf Restricting * AirTrafficControl is now a self restricting application. Administrators can now prevent unauthorized users from
changing network settings or joining networks. If you want to disable these restrictions simply flip the widget over, authenticate,
and you have control. Ad Hoc Network Scanning (coming soon ...) * AirTrafficControl has the ability to also scan for computer-to-computer or Ad Hoc networks. This feature has been disabled
in the current beta release but will be available in the future. Update Manager * An update manager has been created to simplify updates and to allow for independent updating of the
vendor list. The update manager can be disabled but if you leave it on it will inform you of new versions and automatically
update your vendor list. Closed Networks can be scanned * Know the name of a closed network? You can now search for it by typing its name in the search box. New Scanning Mode *If you are using AirTrafficControl to search for wireless networks you are in luck - we have a new scanning mode which disconnects
you from your current network and focuses resources on searching for a new network. Scanning mode is then automatically turned off when
you connect to the new network so as not to interfere with network data transmission. Keychain IntegrationAirTrafficControl now can access the Keychain where wireless network passwords are stored. If you would like to
connect to a network simply click on it. If you have the password in your Keychain AirTrafficControl will connect automatically. If you
need to type in the password AirTrafficControl will put it in the Keychain so that Apple's built in networking software can find it later. Current Connection Information Information about your current wireless network connection is provided. Included is name, vendor, encryption type,
a graphic representing signal strength, the wireless channel number and wireless network speed (which is exclusive to AirTrafficControl). Wireless Network Information AirTrafficControl also provides information about your wireless networks in your vicinity. You get name, vendor, encryption type,
signal strength and wireless channel number sorted by whatever you want and updated every 3, 5, or 10 seconds when in scanning mode.
When not in scanning mode it is updated every 10 seconds so as not to interfere with wireless network traffic. Networks Have InertiaThank "G B" for this one. The basic idea is this: some signals are weak or contain a bunch of interference so their associated networks will often disappear and reappear on a per-scan basis. To solve this problem of networks appearing then quickly disappearing networks now stick around for a period of time based on their last recorded strength. * new feature included in this version. |
